IAM a Work in Progress

PHILIPPIANS 1:6 NLT And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

We are still in the process. We have not arrived just yet. I want to encourage you first:  God started something GOOD inside of you.  When we think about what events in our life sparked the desire to change or grow, many times, we might think about some shocking events that might seem negative.  I look back and I think I might have done some things differently as a youngster, but those origins are what makes me today.  I hold to the truth that a Good, Great work was started inside of me in the beginning.  My birth was in greatness, and my life will continue in greatness.

More great news:  We didn’t just sign up for something, and that’s it!  We aren’t left to just twist in the wind, and fend for ourselves! We now continue to grow, improve, learn, change and transform everyday!  I am so impressed when I hear about people who make decisions to do amazing things, and the world tells them they are crazy.

When the world tells you that you are crazy , or that it’s impossible: great, you are on the right track! Don’t listen to the lies of the world: you are too old, not smart enough, the opponent is invincible.   Only stick to what you know. God started something in me, and I am going to keep moving towards that wonderful goal!

The beauty of life is that we have the amazing ability to continue to learn and grow.  We have the infinite capacity to learn.  We also have the capacity to grow in our heart for others.

Philippians-0106

Don’t give up!

Don’t write off the world and think that society is not going to change

Don’t think: Who am I but one person, how can I make an impact

You can’t teach this old dog new tricks!

LIES!  All of them!

Today:  Think about the things that are left unfinished.  Are you supposed to leave them behind because they are unworthy of your life?  Or have you forgotten about who you really are, and you need to get back to it?  Don’t give up!  Stay the course!

I believe in you!

He Who Began A Good Work

He who began a good work in you
He who began a good work in you
Will be faithful to complete it
He’ll be faithful to complete it
He who started the work
Will be faithful to complete it in you

If the struggle you’re facing
Is slowly replacing
Your hope with despair
Or the process is long
And you’re losing your song
In the night you can be sure
That the Lord has His hand on you
Safe and secure
He will never abandon you
You are His treasure
And He finds His pleasure in you

He who began a good work in you
He who began a good work in you
Will be faithful to complete it
He’ll be faithful to complete it
He who started the work
Will be faithful to complete it in you
If the struggle you’re facing
Is slowly replacing
Your hope with despair
Or the process is long
And you’re losing your song
In the night you can be sure
That the Lord has His hand on you
Safe and secure
He will never abandon you
You are His treasure
And He finds His pleasure in you

IAM Fruitful

LUKE 6:44-45 NLT A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes.  A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

It’s pretty darn simple.  What’s inside of us, is what will come out of us.  If we don’t have love inside, we can’t be loving.  If we have only anger and hatred inside, that’s all we can offer in our relationships.
Good from good, and evil from evil.
You might be able to fake it for a while, but life has a way of turning up the pressure and heat.  The true internal reality will explode at the worst time, and usually all over the people you love!
I love the word that is used here:  Treasury in your heart.
Have you ever heard the phrase trash in trash out?  Well, I believe this verse also makes it clear, trash in, stays in.
So the other must apply:  Great in, great stays, and great grows, and great pours out from you.
Oil and water don’t mix right?
As you continue to put good things into your ears, eyes, mind and heart, the bad stuff will not have room to stay.
They best way to get rid of a bad habit:  Replace it with a good habit.
If all you have ever known is sarcasm, bitterness, hatred and anger, it’s rough.
But you are not ruined forever!
You can choose today to start putting in the good.
You are making that step right now
Make a commitment to read the word everyday
Be around positive happy people as much as possible
and if you really need a pick me up:  Youtube is the place for videos that will brighten your spirit
here are some of my favorites!

IAM Given a Gift

EPH 2:8-10 NLT God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Friends, the wonderful gift of salvation and life is the greatest gift that we could ever receive.  It’s there waiting for all of us.  We are the recipients of the gift.  The greatness is in the gift and the gift giver.  We did not deserve it or earn it, but God graciously gives it to us.  Today, I want to encourage you to keep a proper perspective.  Not to lower ourselves and consider ourselves worthless.  Because God loves us so much, and that fact of being loved by God makes our idenity powerful.  There is no boasting in being given a gift by the skin of our teeth.  I hope there is a feeling of gratitude and thankfulness for the amazing grace we have received.

God saw something and planned something amazing for your life, long long ago.  That the amazing story of redemption is being written now as we speak.  That amazing story is resulting in a masterpiece that God is forming everyday.  The masterpiece that God is making out of your life is not meant to be sitting on the wall of a museum behind security glass.  God had a plan for you to do good things with that masterpiece.

 keep-calm-cause-god-loves-you-15

Let’s put down God’s Plan
1. He gave us the gift salvation because He loved us.
2. That gift of salvation working in us makes us an amazing masterpiece
3. The story and power of redemption of your life transformation into a masterpiece is a good good work for others to see.  For you to testify with your life, the amazing grace God offers to all man.

That’s the generic version:  allow God to form you, and mold you into the masterpiece he sees for your life.
Be a living testimony that God’s amazing grace is a gift that everyone is worthy to receive.
Encourage others to grow in their self worth because of the value of the gift and gift giver
Let God give you his heart for a specific purpose, passion or calling.
Keep on being awesome because our God is awesome!

Listening to You Opened Up My Eyes by Martyn Layzell #nowplaying http://grooveshark.com/s/You+Opened+Up+My+Eyes/4zDpia?src=5

Let’s celebrate the fact that we we were once dead, but now we’re alive!

Martyn Layzell : You Opened Up My Eyes

Not by words and not by deeds. But by grace we have been saved
And it is the gift of God, the faith we need
Not by strength and not by might. But with power from on high
So that we can only boast, boast in You

For once I was dead, now I’m alive. For freedom I’m set free
And in Your great love, life do I find. You opened up my eyes
Not with eloquence or fame. But with weakness and in shame
For the power of Your strength. Is then revealed
And the message of Your cross. Seemed such foolishness to some
But the mercy of Your grace is hidden there

What mercy, what mercy, what mercy beneath Your cross
Your mercy, Your mercy, Your mercy beneath Your cross

IAM a God Imitator

EPH 5:1-2 NLT Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

I can tell you as a father of two wonderful amazing girls in their childhood, there have been distinct moments when I have observed them do something really amazing.  The thoughts that went through my mind was : “That’s my girls!  Yes! I am their Daddy!  Yes those little mini-me’s right there, those are my children!”  Their actions were a pleasing aroma to me and my wife.  And even more to God.  Yes, I have the wonderful privilege of raising my girls until they are adults, and I hope I can model Godly things for them everyday.
God does that in the heavens everyday when he sees you.  Do you know that?  Can you hear it?

Today, the word is encouraging us to the imitators of God.  Imitation not in a bad, knock off, poor copy sort of way, but a very very close representation of the true and living God.  Be imitators in everything we do.   Everything, leaves no room for a sliver of weakness.  When we play the part, and start living it out, it becomes very very difficult to compartmentalize my old life, and my new life.  I want to encourage you:  Go all in!  Don’t reserve 1% of your life, and say:”God, I trust you for 99% but I gotta keep this 1% for myself”  God wants it all, and he demands everything.  As your heart desires to be more like God, just say, Ok God, I trust you the good father, with everything in my life.  Buckle up, because it’s a wonderful ride!

Walking-in-Your-Destiny

We imitate God, because it is his DNA that he has given to us.  We imitate God, because it is our new nature to live a life filled with love.  Ask God to fill you with love every morning.  Ask God to help you to be more and more like Jesus in all that you do.  Jesus came to this earth to serve and sacrfice his life for us.  Jesus loved and lived sacrifically.  That’s our perfect example for true wonderful aroma filled living.

There is nothing you can do or say that can take away your identity that God has placed on you.
It doesn’t matter if you were born into this world with awesome parents, or rotten parents, your DNA is the DNA of the Creator.
Their life and destiny is not your life and destiny.
God is a loving father that has an amazing unique plan for your life.
Remember the truth:  I am God’s dear child, He loved me and gave himself to purchase my life.

IAM a God Imitator
IAM a Child of God
IAM 100% God’s
IAM Loved by God
IAM a Pleasing Aroma to God

IAM Adopted

EPH 1:4-8 NLT Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.  He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

6511522

It’s hard for me to fully understand the depth of God’s heart and mind.  It’s my limitation because my mind is just not developed enough to understand or even have the capacity to think back that far.  I am starting to forget things that happened to me as a child.  The mind of our God is so much greater.  Even before the world began, God loved you and me.  That’s a very very very long time ago.
Not only did God love us, but he chose us to be in relationship with him.  It was premeditated adoption, through Jesus Christ.

God chose you!  He picked you out!  Out of all the humans that have lived on this earth througout the history of man, God wanted you to be in relationship with him. That choice was based in God’s kindness and grace.

I think I know a purpose for genealogies in the bible.  So and so begat so and so.. etc.  And how they trace all the way back to Adam.  He had a purpose and plan for you and me, even in the Garden of Eden.  It was deliberate and thought out.  Moses was adopted for a special purpose by the daughter of the Pharaoh.  It may not matter how you were born into this life or the circumstances, it’s more important whose loving royal family you have been adopted into today.  All the history of the world has been waiting for you since before the world began.

I want to encourage you with the powerful truth in your identity.  You are a chosen member adopted into God’s family purchased through Jesus.  An adoption is not cheap, and our adoption into God’s family was very costly.  Jesus’ blood was the cost to free us from death.  That’s what God went through for us.  That’s how important you are!

If someone asked you today: “Who are you?”  Can you answer in confidence that question?
I am a Child of the King.

RoyaltyKingofkings

Answering that question with confidence brings power and posture through wisdom and understanding.
Power to live with the full confidence in knowing who you are.
You don’t have to spend any mental time on the what if’s and questions about direction.
You are moving full steam ahead into your destiny

Posture is your stance and mojo. It affects your language and prayers.  When we pray, we know we are talking to our Daddy.  When we speak with others about who God is, we can speak with first hand knowledge of what we know deep down.  Not just what we heard from someone else.  It’s time to live boldly in our identity.

It’s mirror time again! Look at your beautiful face in the mirror or selfie camera and proclaim the truth with me today!

IAM God’s Prized Possession

James 1:18 NLT He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

You are God’s prized possession.  When you read that, is it easy to believe? When I look at this world and whats going on in the news, social media and entertainment, I am pretty sure people have not fully grasped what it means.  It shows in their actions, expression, physical posture and words.  Even our words, thoughts and actions can betray us, and knock us off the truth.  Don’t let it steal any power away from flourishing in your God given identity.  You are a prized possession.

Own it!  Walk around in that confidence, strut in the powerful posture of who you are.  I give you permission to say to someone today “Don’t you know who I am?”  And say it with some moxie!  Then encourage your brother and sister around you to do the same.

When you get to work, make your entrance to the office just like Sherman Hemsley.  I hope with the double dutch part too!

Our real life started when he chose us.  God’s word’s and true good news rang true in our ears, and we started a relationship with him.  It wasn’t a random thing.  God chose you!  God wants you, not as his third for fourth choice when he was looking around for someone.  He had a wonderful amazing destiny filled plan to give you new life.  Please know deep down inside, that God chose you.  From the day that you were born and given a beautiful name, God was weaving a wonderful plan for your life.  You are not a mistake.  Embrace that wonderful piece of truth as well, you are God’s possession.  He chose us, and he owns us.

There is no other master I would rather be a servant to.  No king is greater, wiser and compassionate that our God.  I have a comfort in knowing that I am a loyal subject to the true ruler and king of the universe.

Friend:  enjoy your identity.  Have fun in it, rejoice in it.
Strengthen your heart and mind against the lies that try and tell us otherwise. Let the words flow over you, all morning, noon and night.

I want to encourage you, if you really struggle with negative inner thoughts, scripture memory is the only weapon for that battle.

Burn the words and truth into your heart and mind.

 Let’s proclaim the truth today!

IAM on FIRE!

Jeremiah 20:9  But if I say I’ll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it!

tat
When i was 22 years old, I received this verse as my life calling. I have a message that I believe must be shared as skillfully as possible.  That is my life calling.  It burns in my heart like a fire.
I have spent way too many years running from my calling, and I am weary from holding it in.  I can’t do it anymore!

God wore me out. I kept making free will decisions to run away from who I am, and what I was created to do. I am so thankful that He would not let me run away too far.  My decisions to run away also led to some consequences that were not so pleasant.  God used them to bring me back to him. I am so thankful that he would not let me go.  He wants you!

It’s a scary prayer to ask God: “I want to go deeper”  or “God, give me your heart”  the middle will be messy.  I want to encourage you, of the glorious end point!  The peace and joy of knowing you are living out your true mission on this earth! That’s a man on fire! Fire burns away the junk and things that do not matter, and it purifies and strengthens the eternal.
Don’t be afraid of the fire, because what remains is what truly matters.  Don’t be afraid of the bold prayers for more!
Fire_Man_by_formalART
That is who I am.  My identity is not in what I do, it is in the message.
My identity is not in my success or bank account, it is in my Lord
My identity is not in my wife or kids, it is only in the words that burn in my heart
My identity is not in what anyone else on this world thinks or says about me, it is only in the good news that must go forth.

IAM Complete

1 Corinthians 1:7-9 NLT Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are complete.  When we decide to have a relationship with God, through his son Jesus, we become transformed in that one moment.  It’s not a feeling, its a knowing.  Changes started happening inside, and the work continues inside each of us daily, as we submit to God and allow his Spirit to guide us.
It’s time to take hold of the truth, and let that truth continously work inside of us.  Let the truth dominate your feelings and reality. Not the other way around.

Right now, the spiritual gifts we need are already inside of us, but our past baggage and sins might be a big factor as to why we are not working in then 100%.  As we spend time with God everyday, praying and meditating on his word, ask God to keep peeling back the layers that are holding the real you down.  Let’s get rid of the things about our self that we may even be clinging to as a part of our identity, when in fact they are the things that hurt us from shining in our true identity.

Your identity is a powerful mighty partner with the faithful Son of God!  How about that for a title on a business card?

Take some time and write down the answers to these questions:
1. What are your passionate about?
2. What injustices in this world make you angry?
3. In what ways are you uniquely gifted to minister to others?

If the answers to those questions are a little hazy, it’s ok!  Ask God to show you more of who you are.
Ask God to give you his heartbeat and eyes for the people in this world who are hurting.
Ask God to refine the spiritual gifts that are already inside of you.   Ask God to peel back one layer of sin or disbelief that is inhibiting you from moving in your gifts.

We have made decisions in the past to run away and avoid our amazing destiny.  Now it’s time to make decisions and steps to start moving towards our true identity.  Don’t be afraid that you aren’t gifted enough.  God has given you all you need.  We have a partner who is all powerful and faithful.

Shout this one out loud to the world, and let it echo deep into your soul!

IAM a Cheerful Giver

IAM a Cheerful Giver
2 CORINTHIANS 9: 6-8 NLT Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”  And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

blog-Seed-for-the-Sower

Being a farmer takes faith and patience, but it also takes action.
The greatest investment into the Kingdom we can make is a generous cheerful gift.  God loves a person who gives cheerfully.
Ask God to fill you with joy and passion as you invest your time and energy for eternal good.  Smile when you give.  Smile, sing and dance when you donate of your time and energy in service.

As we continue to transform our spirit and character for the better each day, I believe God wants to stretch our faith and generosity and investment mindset.

Ask for God’s heart for the poor.  Ask God to show you how even a little more financial resources would empower a ministry to minister to more people.  Also in our world today: Time is money.  Well how about making time investments into building the kingdom?  I know that when I spend time in ministry, that does alleviate financial pressures for our church.  There are ways that we can give freely of our time, that allows our ministries to save money, and put those resources elsewhere.  So even if you say, I don’t have enough money, then donate your time.  Your unique awesomeness is needed in the lives of others.

In the most non pressure filled way possible, I want to encourage you. Give in faith of your time and resources. Because of this one question:  Can you put a dollar amount on a cost of one soul?  Can you put a value on the miraculous healing for the terminally ill? Can you put a dollar amount on the soul of a young child who has their life let on the path to following Jesus, because you shared God’s love with them every Sunday School?

God’s promises are true: give cheerfully, invest into the kingdom with a joyful heart: God will provide all you need with leftovers to keep on sharing with others.  There are so many times in the bible where God comes through.  It’s a law of God’s nature and wonderful character to bless us with what we need and some leftovers.  You can take that promise to the bank!
