IAM a Servant with a Purpose

IAM a Servant

Matthew 20:26-28 NLT But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,  and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.  For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Jesus tells that if we want to be a leader, we must become the servant.  If we want to be first, we must become the slave.

Jesus was a son of the line of David.  He had royal lineage.
Or he performed enough miracles that he could have big-timed it wherever he went.
Out of all the people in the history of the world he would have been justified to say “Don’t you know who I am?”

But he didn’t.  He gave his life has a ransom for the world.

The greatest person that ever lived, the one true Son of God, was beaten, and punished and crucified , to serve the world.

It’s funny because , many prominent business and training books for professionals say the same thing.  If you want to be great, serve the many. And when you continue to read more books, it seems as if they should just say,
If you want to be a great leader, just be like Jesus.   Because that’s what they all say.

Jesus was sent by God the father for one mission.
And we are sent by God for one mission.
We are called for one purpose.

And the easiest and most powerful way to win over this world is to serve unselfishly.

Because it’s totally opposite of what the inner person is screaming for.  And when we serve, with the heart and compassion of Jesus.  That breaks something inside of those we serve. That models the Love of God. And it makes others scratch their head… “What is up with those Jesus people?”
What do they have inside of them, that allows them to serve with Joy and passion like that?
Why would this stranger decide to love me by serving me?

Then we can be ready to share God’s truth.

ACT 20:24 NLT But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

In my 39 years of life, this is the first time that this verse popped out of the page to me, and it’s timely.

My life is worth nothing unless I am doing what my life calling is.
Telling others about the Good news! And the wonderful Grace of God.

That’s a mission statement!

Today: look in the mirror and declare this truth

How can I serve?
